Important Announcement from the Mustang Week Staff

September 3, 2019 – Important Announcement from the Mustang Week Staff

Over the past couple of days, the Mustang Week Staff have had to make some hard decisions.  First and foremost, we would like to thank those Mustang Week participants that chose to stick around the Myrtle Beach area and were able to attend our pre-meets Sunday at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center (MBCC) and on Monday at the Hard Rock Café Myrtle Beach.  The skies have been bright and sunny during today’s annual Meet-n-Greet at Broadway at the Beach, with many awesome Mustangs.  The kind words from those participants, here in Myrtle Beach, have helped make a tough situation a little less difficult.

But Hurricane Dorian has made its northwest turn and it’s projected to travel up the eastern coastline. As many know, the South Carolina coastline has been under a Zone A mandatory evacuation since yesterday.  This affects any business/property east of US 17 (Kings Hwy).  Dorian is projected to bring strong winds and rain, beginning Wednesday and tapering off late Thursday.  There is no way to know what the hurricane will actually do, where it will track, and at what strength/impact.  Because of certain wet weather, we have already canceled Wednesday and Thursday’s track events.  We, the Mustang Week Staff have been in constant communication with the MBCC and the City of Myrtle Beach.  Please understand that the MBCC is primary shelter if the storm becomes dangerous to the residents of Horry County.  And, even with sunny skies forecasted for Friday and Saturday, there is no way to know what the status of roads, the MBCC space, and local businesses will be.  Based on these factors, it is with extremely heavy hearts, that we are going to cancel this year’s Car Show, on Friday, and the Cruise-In on Saturday.  The safety of our participants, sponsors, volunteers, and staff is our primary concern.  We also want the city and county to be able to utilize their facilities as needed in the coming days.  In the coming days/weeks, please reach out to our Mustang Week Sponsors, and let them know how much you appreciated their continued support.

Be safe!

The Mustang Week Staff
