Changes in 2016 for Mustang Week
The Mustang Week Staff is proud to announce some changes for the 15th Annual Mustang Week in July 0f 2016! We are changing venue for one of our larger events. Anyone who has previously attended knows that space is the premium in Myrtle Beach. We have spent the past 10+ years searching out the best options to grow our events. We are also adding an extra half-day at the Myrtle Beach Speedway on Thursday.
The first change is for the event that kicks off Mustang Week on Tuesday, the Meet-n-Greet. In 2016 the Meet-n-Greet will be held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, near the intersection of 21st Street and Oak Street, in Myrtle Beach, SC. This location will allow us to accommodate more participants and provided easier entry/exit from the Meet-n-Greet.
Next, we have added a second half-day, on Thursday, at the Myrtle Beach Speedway. In previous years, we have only had one day for the BFGoodrich Track Day at Myrtle Beach Speedway. After record attendance the last two years we have decided to add a send half-day to allow participants more opportunity to get their car into the Speedway Fun Runs and the Autocross. Wednesday will remain the same at the Speedway, the evening ending with the annual SVTPerformance.com Burnout Contest. And new for 2016, we will be hosting more Fun Runs and Autocross action Thursday morning at the Speedway.
Also on Thursday morning, the annual Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords Dyno Shootout, hosted by Pro-Dyno, will be held at the Myrtle Beach Mall. Pro-Dyno will be located at the Myrtle Beach Mall the rest of the week to meet your all of your dyno tuning needs.
Thursday afternoon we will make the annual trek to Darlington Dragway for the annual Dragnight and an evening of ¼-mile drag racing fun. Darlington Dragway is under new ownership and management and the Mustang Week Staff will work closely with them to make sure participants get in the most runs possible in 2016.
Finally, the most important announcement is to let everyone know that the annual Mustang Week Car Show and Cruise-In (Friday and Saturday’s events) will again be held at the Myrtle Beach Mall, near the intersection of US 71 and SC 22. Some have read that we have been in negotiation for the past six months with the City of Myrtle Beach to move Friday and Saturday’s events to a new show area on Kings Highway. However, the Mustang Week Staff and the City Council could not meet a mutual agreement to move those events inside the city limits. So, we will return to Myrtle Beach Mall for those events again in 2016.
Rest assured that planning these events is no easy task, but it our goal to provide the best experience for the Mustang Week participants and sponsors. We ask that anyone planning to attend Mustang Week 2016 please read all the upcoming information that will be posted here at www.mustangweek.com. This is the ONLY official place for information regarding schedule, venues, and rules. In the coming weeks we will be updating the Event Schedule and Event Overview tabs on the Mustang Week home page. Please read those carefully.
See you all at the 15th Annual Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach!
